Sat. July 12, Newport - 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, free family event LINK
FreshMaps was invited to join the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Newport Historical Society’s annual French in Newport event–a day of living history featuring reenactments, performance at Washington Square. Visitors explored the role of French soldiers and sailors who fought for America’s independence. Author Molly Beer gave a talk on her new book on Angelica Schuyler Church, who lived in Newport and served as an ambassador to the French military. We enjoyed meeting folks at the DAR table, and offering a demo of the Portsmouth Revolutionary RI History Hunt!

Visitors enjoyed an immersive, in-person experience at the kickoff event for the Revolutionary RI History Hunt at the Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead in Coventry. It was a festive 283rd birthday party for our state's famous general, and not only was the History Hunt free that day, but the scene was filled with re-enactors, privateers, and tours of the Homestead as well. FreshMaps founder Michelle Girasole was the event's featured speaker.
